As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will be responsible for delegation, supervision, and provision of nursing care for a designated group of patients through utilization of the nursing process. Provides age appropriate patient care. Participates in research when appropriate and incorporates research findings into clinical practice. 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Current RN license in the State of Illinois required.
  • Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS Provider or Instructor certification required within one year of hire date.

Experience:

  • Meets credit range for Clinical Ladder levels as follows (12 months experience as a registered nurse is required in order to apply for promotion in the clinical ladder):
  • Clinical Nurse I: Registered Nurse who achieves a range of 0-12 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid. BSN preferred.
  • Clinical Nurse II: Registered Nurse who achieves a range of 13-24 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least two categories of the Grid. BSN preferred.
  • Clinical Nurse III: Registered Nurse who achieves at least 25 - 35 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least three categories on the Grid. BSN or 30+ years’ experience required.
  • Clinical Nurse IV: Registered Nurse who achieves at least 36 credits on the Clinical Ladder with evidence of behaviors from at least three categories on the Grid. Enrollment in BSN or MSN program or completion of BSN required.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs age appropriate assessments.
  2. Analyzes data to identify nursing problems.
  3. Provides direct patient care, develops individualized plan of care in partnership with patients & families. Evaluates patient progress toward attainment of goals, revising plan of care when indicated.
  4. Delegates patient care tasks to LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel based on job description and patient needs.
  5. Appropriately supervises performance of LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  6. Builds teamwork when supervising and delegating to others.
  7. Documents patient care according to policies and procedures.
  8. Ensures appropriate implementation of physician’s orders.
  9. Precepts new nursing employees and/or nursing students.
  10. Identifies & resolves safety risks.
  11. Participates in continuous quality improvement, periodic review of policies, procedures and pre-printed physicians orders.
  12. Assists with educational activities for other staff on the nursing unit.
  13. Performs other related work as required or requested.
