INFECTION PREVENTION & CONTROL COORDINATOR - 27838
Decatur, ILWorking as the Infection Prevention & Control Coordinator at MH you will coordinate infection prevention department daily tasks for hospital group infection prevention team. Assists Manger, Infection Control in schedule and time card management for infection prevention colleagues. Uses standardized definitions for the identification and classification of events, indicators, or outcomes. Incorporates into practice activities that are specific to the practice setting and the population served. Provides guidance in infection prevention and control for health-care staff, patients, families, and general public. Serves as an educator and participates in educational programs for infection prevention and control. Collaborates with colleague health in development of policies related to the risk of disease transmission. Assists with the immunization program. Successful in team collaborative situations. Serves as a leader, mentor, and role model for fellow infection prevention colleagues.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- Registered Nurse in state of Illinois or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) certification required.
- CPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Certification in infection prevention and control through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology required. Will maintain certification once obtained.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
Experience:
- Two years hospital experience in acute care required.
- Two years of experience in infection control required.
- Data collection experience preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Willing to engage in individual study.
- Good communication skills.
- Proficient with electronic software system for surveillance, use of electronic health record and use of NHSN/CDC websites for electronic reporting.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
