Provides HVAC maintenance to all areas of Memorial Health as assigned. Insures that work is completed per established policies/procedures, work order specifications and appropriate codes.
Qualifications
Education:
Associates Degree in a mechanical/science related field, HVAC Certification, or completion of an apprenticeship program in HVAC required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).
Experience:
Four years commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration experience preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply complex building codes such as NFPA and Joint Commission.
- Must possess routine hand tools used by an HVAC technician.
- Demonstrated ability to apply HVAC theory, read/understand blueprints, and other technical specifications.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of HVAC procedures and safety codes.
- Demonstrated ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for long periods of time.
- Have basic computer knowledge.
Responsibilities
-
- Establishes work priorities ensuring efficient organization and coordination of activities with installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment and appliances per codes and specifications.
- Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance and avoids safety hazards consistent with specifications and building codes.
- Trouble shoots (electrical and mechanical) A/C units, ice machines, refrigeration units and related equipment, devices and machinery in an effective and efficient manner.
- Repair and troubleshoot DDC and pneumatic controls in an effective and efficient manner.
- Interacts with patients and Medical Health personnel in a courteous, helpful, cooperative professional manner and follows Code of Conduct of Memorial Health.
- Maintains appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of the Medical Health.
- Follows all safety procedures/policies and maintains effective standards of cleanliness of the Medical Health and its equipment.
- Knows thoroughly all hospital disaster codes and follows proper procedures immediately.
- Coordinates assigned work to meet the needs of customers, patients and visitors and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrates engagement by assisting with completing division goals.
