PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT - LEVEL II - INPATIENT - 18820
Springfield, ILThe Physical Therapist Assistant II is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment to patients of all ages under the direction and supervision of physical therapist. All procedures are carried out in accordance with established standards, policies, protocols and guidelines. Participates in PTA student supervision, inservicing of staff, program development and special projects.
Qualifications
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- P. T.A license in the State of Illinois required.
- CPR Certification preferred.
- If applicable, must possess valid Illinois drivers license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (5 year MVR will be required).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 yrs of experience required.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with patients, families, peer and other team members as needed for assessment, intervention, and professional development.
- Must be physically able to lift, support, move patients 50 – 100 lbs.

Responsibilities
- Provides quality patient treatment.
- Provides accurate and timely documentation as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Provides interdepartmental communication with areas such as nursing, social service, and occupational therapy.
- Serves as a clinical resource for PTA’s and rehab techs.
- Is active in his/her professional development through utilization of staff expertise and the department’s annual education program.
- Assists in overseeing inventory of assigned areas..
- Maintains equipment and environment in safe order and in compliance with Joint Commission Infection control standards.
- Assists with PTA students in combination with Physical Therapist.
- Participates in department’s educational and community service activities.
- Participates in program development or special projects under the auspices of the assigned Physical Therapist or Program Coordinator.
- Assists with department projects, planning and problem solving through task force and/or community participation.
- Demonstrates support for and participates as requested in accomplishing MHS, departmental and team goals and objectives.
- Performs other related work as required or requested.
