CLINICAL DIETETICS TECHNICIAN - 28000
Decatur, IL- Full time
- Day shift, 7:30 am - 4pm
- Weekends as needed
This position exists to provide assistance to the Registered Dietitian in providing quality nutritional care to patients. The position is responsible for accuracy, efficiency, knowledge and clinical skills to perform nutritional screening. Exhibits ability to show patience, courtesy and professionalism with customers. Qualifications
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition or related field preferred.
Experience:
Two years experience working directly with the public, customer service, or in healthcare preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Requires a level of self-direction to work independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge, with the ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and access, retrieve, and enter information into an electronic database.
- Knowledge and clinical skills to perform nutrition responsibilities and understanding of diet restrictions through training or experience.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents nutritional rescreen to identify patients at nutritional risk or with nutritional needs.
- Monitors and documents patients with diet orders of NPO/clear liquids that have been continued for 4 days.
- Collects, tabulates and documents patients’ calorie count data.
- Monitors and documents patients’ acceptance to nutritional supplements/snacks and provides alternate choices if indicated.
