Springfield, ILAssists the Associate General Counsel Senior – Risk Management in managing risk, corporate litigation, and corporate legal needs as directed for all Memorial Health affiliates. 1. Risk Management Responsibilities
· Assists in:
a. The development and implementation of comprehensive risk management and mitigation strategies, policies, and education to identify and mitigate potential risks to Memorial Health.
b. The establishment and monitoring of key risk indicators (KRIs).
· Coordinates with other departments to provide or gather, as applicable, documents, materials, and information needed in response to an incident, claim, governmental and/or regulatory investigation or inspection, and the like.
· Responsible for support related to litigation, mediation, arbitration, negotiations, and responses to complaints, external investigations, subpoena and court order compliance, and the like, to include, but not be limited to:
a. Typing, copying, collating, creating, and distributing draft responses and correspondence related to open legal matters and investigations as delegated by Associate General Counsel Senior – Risk Management.
b. Coordinating interactions between internal colleagues, with outside legal counsel, and with other third parties.
· Monitors compliance with Risk Management policies and procedures.
2. General Responsibilities
· Ensures the security of confidential business and patient information and the safeguarding of assigned assets.
· Attends, presents, conducts, and participates in departmental and administrative meetings and committees, as requested, including, but not limited to, all Root Cause Analysis teams and other assigned Memorial Health monthly meetings.
· Emphasizes and promotes the Guest Relations philosophy of Memorial Health.
· Maintains professional affiliations as appropriate and participates in professional activities to keep abreast of developments.
· Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management, including reviewing, summarizing, and monitoring legislation that impacts Memorial Health.
· Maintains orderly files, including, but not limited to, accurately matter tracking.
· Maintains current knowledge of relevant Memorial Health policies and guidelines applicable to the role.
· Performs legal research as requested by Associate General Counsel Senior – Risk Management.
· Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and exercise sound judgment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across Memorial Health and its external contacts.
· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

5. This position is a hybrid in-office and remote position.

Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree in business or health related field preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
· Paralegal certificate preferred.
Experience:
· 3+ years in-house or law firm experience preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Highly developed negotiation and interpersonal skills.
· Moderate physical effort required (some travel involved).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Superb attention to detail, as well as organizational and multitasking skills.
