Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care to patients of all ages through the proper utilization of evaluation, planning and implementation of a treatment plan in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- Current Illinois Licensure as Physical Therapist required.
- Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Physical Therapy required.
- 1-2 years of supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience required.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to show respect for patient rights by considering their cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values.
- Knowledge of proper procedure for all Physical therapy modalities, including age-specific, precautions and contra-indications.
Responsibilities
- Consistently and thoroughly evaluates patients with differing diagnoses and devises an individualized, comprehensive plan of care based on facts and best practice.
- Recommends and performs treatment as ordered by referring physician.
- Educates about disease process, equipment use, and rehabilitation techniques, as appropriate.
- Actively researches and develops new services and suggests improvements to existing services.
- Treat patients in aquatic environment.
- Engages in at least one activity per year which promotes individualized professional development.
- Serve as a role model in the delivery of P.T. treatment. Facilitates effective team work with nursing and other rehab staff.
- Maintains active involvement in clinical supervision/education within the student program. (Exception: Staff members less than .5 FTE).
- Participates in department projects, committees, task groups, tours, etc. as requested.
- Performs evidence based research and implements/shares with other staff.
- Presents in-services to department, other hospital service areas and/or community as requested.
- Participate in marketing activities to maintain high caseload for IP and OP.
- Performs other related work as required or requested.
