Springfield, ILUnder general supervision, our Groundskeeper is responsible for providing essential lawn care, snow removal, and grounds maintenance for Memorial Health. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the external environment is well-maintained and welcoming.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- Valid Illinois driver’s license required; must meet acceptable driver standards according to the Memorial Health Fleet Safety Policy. A five-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in grounds and lawn maintenance preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic operation of lawn and snow removal equipment.
Responsibilities
Care for grounds, including mowing, snow removal, raking leaves, watering, fertilizing, edging, planting grass and flowers, trimming, de-thatching lawns, painting as needed, and parking lot striping.
Maintain the external appearance of Memorial Health by cleaning driveways, parking areas, entrances, and disposing of trash.
Remove snow using approved methods such as snow plows, shovels, squeegees, and snow blowers.
Transport materials and equipment to work sites using hand, dolly, or truck.
Interact courteously and cooperatively with hospital colleagues, patients, and visitors.
Perform pre-start-up inspections of power equipment and handle minor repairs on grounds equipment and tools.
Maintain appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of Memorial Health System.
Consistently follow all safety procedures and policies while completing work assignments.
Perform other related duties as required or requested.
